The country music icon tragically died after a brief battle with cancer.

Legendary music icon Dolly Parton died aged 80. The country singer’s nephew Bryan Seaver announced her death on Tuesday afternoon, shocking her fans. “Sadness lies with us, not with Dolly,” Bryan said, claiming the beloved legend would finally be reunited with Carl in heaven. Her family announced the late star’s funeral details in a heartbreaking statement. They explained that “at Dolly’s request, a small, private service will be held for immediate family”.

Details of the singer’s final resting place have since been revealed. It comes as the philanthropist will be laid to rest beside her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean. According to new reports, Dolly’s final resting place is nestled in the corner of her beloved Nashville. Woodlawn Memorial Park Funeral Home Mausoleum, an oak-lined cemetery, is where Dolly will be buried, the Daily Mail reports.
Other famous stars buried at the site include George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Marty Robbins, Little Jimmy Dickens and Porter Wagoner.

It was Wagoner who gave Dolly her big break when she appeared on his show in 1967, before the pair went on to perform numerous duets.

Their partnership soured when Dolly decided to pursue a solo career – prompting her to pen I Will Always Love You, made famous decades later by Whitney Houston.
However, the pair did eventually mend their relationship.

Dolly’s representatives on Tuesday revealed she died following a “brief battle with cancer,” though they did not disclose what type of cancer it was.

“Our beloved Dolly Parton spent her life and career bringing joy, laughter, hope and integrity into everything she touched,” the statement read.

“After bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones.”
